Mixed use, new build conversion listed buildingsA former industrial site at Kelham Island in central Sheffield, previous development on this site ranges from circa 1825 to circa 1950 with some of the 19th century buildings, including a crucible steel furnaces remaining. Our redevelopment scheme includes conversion of the older listed buildings into residential use and demolition of the circa 1950 buildings to make way for up to five storeys of new build which includes commercial space at ground floor level with apartments ranging from single bedroom to four bedroom ‘penthouse’ types over. The design provides 47 new build and 24 converted residential units together with a gymnasium, communal external spaces and approximately 354sq.m (3800sq.ft.) of commercial space. Following planning consent being gained we believe that our clients have sold the site for development by others.

A new build development of 24 apartmentsThe redevelopment scheme for a key landmark site has been achieved in partnership with the former owner to provide 24 single bedroom / studio apartments, each with a conservatory and private balcony overlooking the weir in heart of the Hillsborough district centre. Construction is scheduled to commence in the near future.

A new build development of 22 ‘duplex’ apartmentsThis development provides 22 two bedroom ‘duplex’ apartments on a site purchased at auction for the development of 10 townhouses. This was made possible by creative design and advanced fire prevention and detection engineering solutions. The site was ‘sold on’ by our clients following planning permission and was developed by others in association with our old friends at ‘Coda Studios’ closely following our design concepts.

A new roof with 12 additional studio apartmentsThis scheme provides an additional storey to an existing flat roofed apartment building providing 12 additional studio apartments and also much enhancing the appearance of a previously ugly building. We enjoyed working closely with building contractors P.I.P Construction on this complex construction which was achieved whilst existing tenants remained in residence.

A variety of small residential developmentsA substantial part of our current and past workload is the residential development of small sites in association with builders / developers. We believe that the key to the success of these projects is the maximisation of site potential in conjunction with providing quality accommodation and blending with the surrounding built environment. These projects are usually achieved with informal contracts supported by ourselves on a consultancy basis.
